MyLaserMap (“we”, “us”) is a website for designing laser-cut and engraved maps and downloading the files to cut them, run from Ontario, Canada. By using the site you agree to these terms, our Privacy policy and our Refund policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
1. The service
You pick a place, shape the design in your browser and download laser files (SVG and DXF) for it. The designs are made from public map, depth and elevation data supplied by others (listed on the home page). That data can be old, incomplete or wrong, so we can't promise any design is accurate. Nothing on MyLaserMap is for navigation.
We may change, add or remove features, categories and prices at any time. Price changes never affect a purchase you've already made.
2. Your account
- You sign in with a Google account. Keep it secure: you're responsible for what happens under your account.
- You must be at least 13 to have an account. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission, and they must make or approve any purchase.
- One account per person. Don't share accounts or make extra ones to collect free credits.
- You can stop using the site at any time. To delete your account and its data, email support@mylasermap.com (see the Privacy policy).
3. Credits
- Credits pay for previews and downloads of places, at the prices shown on Pricing and in each studio. Once a place is paid for, changing its settings and downloading it again is free.
- New accounts get free credits. Bought credits and free credits work the same way.
- Credits never expire while MyLaserMap runs. They have no cash value, can't be transferred or sold, and can only be used on MyLaserMap.
- If we ever close MyLaserMap, we'll give at least 30 days' notice by email, so you can download everything you've paid for.
4. Unlimited
- Unlimited is a subscription, billed monthly or yearly, that covers every preview and download while it's active. It renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
- Cancel any time from your account menu (Manage plan). It stays active until the end of the period you've paid for and then stops renewing. Places you made stay free to download after that.
- Fair use applies: up to 30 new places an hour and 300 in 30 days. We may pause or end a subscription used to get around these limits, by scripts or by sharing the account.
- If we change the price of Unlimited, we'll email you before your next renewal at the new price, so you can cancel first.
5. Payments
Payments are taken by Stripe; we never see your card number. Prices are in US dollars, plus any tax that applies. All sales are final, except for faulty files and billing mistakes, as the Refund policy explains. Credits and downloads are delivered straight away, so by buying you ask us to deliver them at once and accept that any legal right to cancel ends once they're delivered.
6. What you may do with your files
When you unlock a design, we give you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use its files to make physical pieces.
- You may cut and engrave as many pieces as you like from your files, keep them, give them away and sell the physical pieces, for example in a shop or at markets, on any plan.
- You may not sell, share, publish or give away the files themselves (or files made from them), sell them as templates or patterns, or upload them where others can download them.
- The map data comes from sources that ask for credit, such as “© OpenStreetMap contributors”. When you sell or show pieces publicly, credit the sources the design uses; the data sources list on the home page has the wording.
7. Your designs and share links
The names and text you put in your designs are yours. You let us store them and show them back to you, and, when you make a share link, show that preview to anyone with the link. Share links are public to whoever has them: don't share anything you want kept private. Don't put anything unlawful, hateful or infringing in names or engraved text. We may remove share links that break these terms.
8. Don't misuse the site
Please don't:
- try to get files without paying, such as by copying them out of the preview or getting around credits;
- use scripts, bots or scrapers to make designs, or to download our data or files in bulk;
- resell access to MyLaserMap or offer it as part of another service;
- overload, attack or try to break into the site or other people's accounts.
We may suspend or close accounts that do, without refund.
9. Cutting safely
Laser cutters can start fires and damage materials and machines. Check every file before you cut, test your settings on scrap, follow your laser's safety instructions and never leave it running unattended. You're responsible for your materials, your machine and how you cut.
10. No warranty and limits on liability
The site and files are provided “as is”. As far as the law allows, we don't promise the site will always be available or free of errors, or that files will suit your material, machine or purpose. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses (such as lost material, machine time, profits or data), and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded.
11. Ending
You can stop using MyLaserMap any time. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms; where we close it for another reason, we'll give you a chance to download what you've paid for first.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. For important changes we'll tell signed-in users on the site or by email before they apply. Using the site after a change means you accept it.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes go to the courts of Ontario. If you live elsewhere, you keep any protections your local consumer law gives you that can't be waived.
14. Contact
